WEAVING
By: Allison Tierney
Most of the time, weaving is done on a loom. There are many different kinds of looms - Hand looms, stand-up looms, Single-Heddle Looms, Back Strap Looms, Frame looms... the list goes on. Do some research online and see hom many different types of looms you can find.
Did you know that weaving has been around for about 27,000 years and is found all over the world? What kinds of items are made from weaving? Blankets and Clothing items for sure... can you think of anything else made from weaving? How many things can you think of?
Let's make our own weaving!

Step 4: Start weaving! Get another piece of yarn (or strip of fabric, or long piece of grass - you can weave with anything!) and cut to a long length - maybe two arm lengths. I like to add a piece of tape to the end to help give the yarn some strength while weaving through. Start from one side and weave your first row following an Over, Under pattern. Leave a small tail and tape it to the back to keep it out of the way.
